Raising Standards in the Rail Industry.

UK passenger rolling stock get a tough time of it - especially from a cleanliness perspective. Millions of passengers are transported each day. Passengers eat, drink, sleep and take their pets on the trains, and every additional passenger adds to the plethora of pathogens, bacteria, viruses, mould and associated biofilms.

It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to address these issues with standard treatment protocols. And, if not dealt with effectively, this environment can become unsavoury and potentially unsafe for rail staff and passengers alike. Especially when you take into account the current situation with COVID-19. Over recent years there has been little innovation in this part of the industry; the surfaces that need treating can be complex and areas difficult to reach, incompatible products are often used which instead of solving any issues can add to the problems by actually creating bacteria that cause unpleasant odours. Human error can also play a role - one persons ‘clean’ may well not be of the standard required.

Hygiene Pro Clean (HPC) have developed a complete, all in one, simple solution to the problems associated with rail cleanliness and the direct effect it can have on health and safety. This solution is based upon a Unique Delivery System and The HPC Chemical / Reagent used.

The Chemical used is both highly effective and very safe. It was developed in conjunction with the military and therefore a product which has even been used to treat agents used in chemical warfare! The reagent is delivered in the form of a controlled, uniform, ultra-fine mist only achievable by using the specialist HPC atomiser. Any dirt, pathogens, mould, viruses and biofilms are destroyed immediately upon contact, making this process an all in one treatment solution. The treatment also completely deodorises the space and is both safe and biodegradable. Because the mist is so fine at 10 to 15 microns there is no residue left behind and all surfaces are fully treated, no matter how complex. As well as all surfaces, any air borne pathogens are also destroyed during the decontamination process. After the decontamination process is complete, the surfaces are simply wiped down with warm water. The environment the cleaning staff will now enter and work in, is 100% decontaminated.

HPC were one of only ten trail blazing companies that were selected to present their Rail Decontamination Solution to people from across the Go Ahead Group, the operating companies and the wider transport and technology industry. As a result of being involved in this prestigious project, HPC have taken part in many ongoing trials and are now working closely with key companies in the Rail industry.
