75% Reduction in Time To Deep Clean and Disinfect Ambulance

The Welsh Ambulance Service Trust (WAST) has integrated Hygiene Pro Clean’s (HPC’s) Ultrasonic Atomiser cleaning and decontamination device into its sanitisation strategy, revolutionising ambulance hygiene and speeding ambulances clean by over 75% from over two hours to 30 minutes.

Originally designed for combating biological and chemical incidents, these cutting-edge devices have proven effective for both commercial and healthcare purposes.

The journey to adopt this innovative technology began with a collaborative effort between WAST, the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI), and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) at Porton Down.

The HPC Ultrasonic Atomiser device was selected after evaluating nearly 300 options and has significantly improved the fight against infection, especially COVID-19. The HPC device has made a critical contribution, highlighting increased safety and faster ambulance turnaround times and availability.

Rigorous testing confirmed the effectiveness of the HPC Ultrasonic Atomisers in decontaminating ambulances, receiving approval from influential stakeholders such as the Ministry of Defence, SBRI, ambulance staff, and infection control specialists. The deployment of these devices across all WAST depots marked a milestone, reducing deep cleaning and disinfection time from over two hours to approximately 30 minutes.

Beyond ambulance sanitisation, HPC’s Ultrasonic Atomiser offers versatile applications in decontaminating offices, facilities, and call centres.

The Head of Infection Prevention and Control at WAST emphasised the importance of the swift and effective solution provided by HPC.

The Executive Director of Quality and Nursing at WAST hailed the investment in ultrasonic atomisers as a commitment to raising standards and embracing cutting-edge technology.

WAST’s adoption of HPC Ultrasonic Atomisers has represented a significant leap forward in addressing sanitisation challenges, showcasing their commitment to innovation and collaboration for the well-being of patients and frontline healthcare workers.
